Description
Situated some 46 kilometers far from the town of Samos at the Southwest, very close to the tourist resort of Ormos Marathokambou, Kambos Marathokambou (the word means “the fields of fennel” in Greek) is an extended, some 3 kilometers long beach, with sand and pebbles, also known as Votsalakia (“small pebbles” in Greek). The sea is rather deep and very clean and, as it is found within the bay of Marathokambos, at the southwestern coast of the island it is well protected from the winds. Accommodation facilities are available around the beach and in the broader area and a seafront tavern of the beach offers coffee, cool refreshments and full meals to the swimmers. The beach is well enough organized and ideal for a nice swimming and sunbathing, far from the capital town of Samos, but close enough to other tourist resorts. In case of health problems a local Medical Center and a pharmacy are available in Marathokambos, some 4 kilometers northern to the beach.Access from the town of Samos is easy by private means (car and motorbikes), via Marathokambos, following the road leading to Kallithea.
